How to Replace a Flat Tire
Replacing a flat tire is not difficult, but it is time-consuming. It takes approximately an hour for the first timer. If you have replaced more than one of your car's flat tires, you can cut down on the time it takes to do each one of these tasks. Replacing a tire does not require heavy equipment or mechanical experience.
Items Needed to Replace the Flat Tire
Jack Vehicle tire iron (lug wrench) Wrench Pump (to inflate tire after changed) Screwdriver (optional, to remove hubcap) Pruning shears (optional, for cutting away broken glass or other objects that might be lodged in the tread of the tire)
Step 1 - Find a Safe Place to Change the Flat Tire
The best place on which to change your flat tire is on the side of the road. If it is nighttime or early morning, you should not work alone.
Step 2 - Loosen the lug nuts with the wrench
You need to loosen the lug nuts on the tire just before you are going to change it. The car's weight must be resting on the tire you are about to remove.
