With the snow in Laurel, MD comes slick roads, and with slick roads comes road salt. As good as it is at melting ice and snow, road salt is no good to have on your vehicle. That's why we at Ourisman Mitsubishi Laurel recommend doing all you can to help prevent corrosion from occurring this winter.

One quick way to cut down on the amount of corrosion that road salt does to your car is to remove any wet leaves that adhere to your car's exterior. Even though leaves aren't falling from trees in the winter, they can still be kicked up by other vehicles. If they have salt on them, they can sit on your car's exterior and cause it to corrode.

Another important step you can take is to give your vehicle a good waxing in the late fall. Wax will help to prevent the salt from sticking to your vehicle, even when it's in its liquified form. If you can, you may want to add a second coat of wax midway through the winter to provide extra protection.
